FAQs
Will there be “House Rules”?
Yes. If applicable, they will be communicated ahead of time.
How many games will be played?
Between 6 and 8.
What do I need to bring?
A copy of the game which will be played that week (if applicable)
*note: the Judge and Shop Owner reserve the right to swap copies amongst pods to discourage cheating or marked games.
Where can I find a game’s luck vs. skill rating?
That’s a BGN trade secret. 😉
What are the door prizes?
Attendance is required to both see and win these myterious door prizes.
How are the games learned?
Players are responsible for learning rules on their own, prior to arrival. The website may have some helpful links for each game.
How are points scored?
At a minimum, players will score the following points per game based on their place:
1st Place; 40 points
2nd Place: 35 points
3rd Place: 20 points
4th Place: 5 points
*note: games may have different points available based on the game complexity and/or luck vs skill rating.
How are ties broken?
Per each game’s rule handbook, the appropriate tiebreaker flowchart will apply. However, in the event of a true shared victory, players will SPLIT the combined points.
Example:
The players A of♠, K of ♥, Q of ♦, J of ♣. At the end of the game, A of♠ finishes first, K of ♥ and Q of ♦ tie for 2nd place, and J of ♣ finishes in 4th. The points attributed are:
A of♠: 40 points
K of ♥: 27.5 points
Q of ♦: 27.5 points
J of ♣: 5 points
Will there be point adjustments?
At the end of the season, every player will have their two lowest scores omitted from their cumulative score. It is possible that this adjustment could conceivably change the Standings, and in turn, the Final Table roster.
How are you caring for players concerning Covid?
Petrie’s Family Games follows all current Colorado and El Paso county guidelines. Please direct any Covid-related questions to Petrie’s Family Games employees.
What happens if a player misss a week?
If the other three Pod players unanimously vote and agree to play on the immediately following Friday at 7pm, that 4-player Pod can play then instead, so long as they approve it with the Judge.
However, if one of the three players refuses, Tuesdays take precedence. The missing player will score 0 points. The Judge will attempt to sub a fourth player for game-balncing purposes, if appropriate.
In the 3 or 4 player game that proceeds, 3rd place points are not available to score. Meaning, if the subbed player scores 2nd place, the following base points will be attributed:
1st Place; 40 points
2nd Place (sub-player): Null
3rd Place: 35 points (2nd place points)
4th Place: 5 points (4th place points, since 3rd place points are not available)
What are Tokens?
At the beginning of the season, each player receives 4 Tokens. This is similar to digital currency, in that it will be housed in a ledger and there is no physical representation of it.
A player may, but is not required to, wager a maximum of one Token per game on their performance, if they have Token(s) available. Wagers are secretly place, by texting Stefan before the games begin. Their winnings or losses are then based on their place in the game, following the key below:
1st Place: Your wagered Token is returned, and you win one additional token.
2nd Place: It’s a push. You receive your wagered Token back.
3rd Place: You lose your wagered Token.
4th Place: You lose your wagered Token and one additional Token. If no additional Token is available to lose, you instead score a 0 for the game, regardless of your place. Other players score the same.
At the end of the season, on Week 9 there will be a Grand Drawing, likely with multiple prizes available. All Tokens become an “entry” in the final drawing for the Grand Drawing. You do need an “attendance score” of 7 of 9 weeks to qualify.
I have heard Stefan reimburses the $50 registration fee for his past and current clients. Is this true?
Of course! Stefan takes care of his clients and is committed to securing their future real estate business. Plus, its fun!
